About the Authors
Charlotte Hill
Residing in the beautiful coastal mountains of Northwestern Oregon, Charlotte Hill and her husband of nearly thirty-nine years, Dave, have two married sons. Sam, a building contractor, and his wife Justine live nearby in Gearhart. Andy, a teacher, and his wife Kari live an hour and a half away in Milwaukie with their daughter Abbie. The Hill’s youngest son, Peter, died of cancer at the age of twenty-one and inspired the book Charlotte co-authored with her brother Don Waite.
Charlotte graduated from Washington State University with a degree in elementary education. She was a stay at home mom for years, reentering the work force when her youngest son started high school. She currently works for the Seaside School District with learning disabled children.
Charlotte is a member of the Cannon Beach Community Presbyterian Church. The miraculous way Peter died has led Charlotte to reach out to grieving and dying people offering them hope and encouragement. Her vision and desire for heaven are inspiring and contagious.

Don Waite

Don is the only son and the middle child of five who grew up loving sports and the outdoors in Pasco, Washington. He decided to pursue a career in law while still in high school. However, God had another plan and called Don to become a pastor in his early twenties. While attending Fuller Seminary, Don spent his summers living with his sister Charlotte and her family in the coastal range of mountains in northern Oregon. He worked in the woods with Charlotte’s husband, Dave. Don’s nephew, Peter, was born a few days before he arrived for his second summer at Hamlet.
Don has been happily married to Ellie for twenty-nine years and they have two daughters. Laura teaches gifted students in Phoenix, Arizona. Julie is finishing her degree in Zoo Science at Friends University. He has served two churches in the Seattle area and one in Phoenix. He currently is pastor of Westwood Presbyterian Church in Wichita, Kansas. He enjoys reading, golf, hiking, and cheering for the Washington State University athletic teams.
